Digital cameras
Technology has really changed the Digital cameras that are now available in the shops. The high resolution of digital images really does a major difference in the quality of the pictures being taken.
Fewer and fewer people now take photographs onto film. Instead the image is stored on a memory device of some sort and the image is available immediately to view, to edit or to send over the internet attached to an email.
What should people look for in today's modern cameras?
Megapixels - this defines the quality of the image being taken. The higher the number the better the image quality and this results in better quality prints.
Camera zoom - this allows the photographer to zoom in on what they are photographing. Look for a zoom of at least x10.
Memory cards - this specifies which memory cards can be used in the camera to store images. You can then plug these cards into computers, mobile phones etc.
LCD screen size - The LCD screen on the camera allows you to look at images you have taken. It also allows you to see the image that the camera is seeing and helps you frame the perfect photograph!
The larger the LCD screen size, the more useful it is.
Unfortunately the choise of which features and options you have dictates the price of the camera. You get what you pay for and you may have to make compromises in the choice of camera that you purchase.
In our internet based world, where where Facebook and Twitter rule, this photographic revolution is possibly as great as the effect of the invention of the printing press!
